Afraid Monkeys Radar Guide
The Radar is the most important purchasable item in Afraid Monkeys. For fifty credits it reveals every hostile entity through walls and across floors, turning blind corridor peeking into informed pathing. If you buy one item from the lobby vending machine, make it the Radar.
What the Radar Does
When held, the Radar highlights all infected monkeys and hostile entities in range regardless of walls or vertical separation. You can spot Chainsaw Hands rotating around a corner before committing, see Slender crossing the parking garage ceiling line, and detect shadow entities standing idle in dark alcoves.
This information advantage compounds across entire runs. Players with Radar die less, lose less carried scrap, and reach keycard rooms faster — recouping the fifty-credit cost within one or two successful Level 1 farming loops.
How to Buy the Radar
Collect scrap throughout the facility, interact with Scrap Recycler machines to convert items into credits, then return to the lobby vending machine. Select Radar for fifty credits. Credits persist through death but changing hats resets them — never swap cosmetics before purchasing.
Use our scrap calculator to plan how many gears and pipes you need. Seven gears alone almost cover the full price. See scrap values for every item type.
Using Radar Effectively
Keep Radar equipped in your hand while navigating unknown corridors. Glance at highlights before crossing door thresholds. When a dot moves toward you, retreat to the previous junction rather than attempting to sprint past — infected monkeys punish greedy movement.
Radar does not stun enemies. Pair it with a grenade or molotov for emergencies when multiple patrols converge on your keycard route.
Why Radar Beats Other Items
Grenades cost fifteen credits and only stall one enemy briefly. Molotovs cost twenty-five and add fire zones but still require you to know where threats are. Radar prevents surprise deaths entirely — the highest return on investment in Afraid Monkeys beta economy.
Experienced players buy Radar before attempting keycard progression or badge hunts like ESCAPED THE MAZE. New players should treat fifty credits as their first milestone after learning movement controls.
