Afraid Monkeys Map Guide
The Map costs seventy-five credits from Mikey in the lobby shop and reveals facility layout including the cave maze tunnels that trap unprepared players. Community playthroughs consistently rank it as the second purchase after Radar — essential for badge runs and keycard routing on Level 1.
What the Map Does
When purchased and equipped, the Map displays the facility layout so you can orient yourself during Level 1 corridor navigation and cave maze attempts. Unlike Radar which shows enemy positions, the Map solves the "where am I" problem that kills maze badge runs — wrong turns loop players back to familiar rooms while infected monkeys close in.
Spanish-language community guides demonstrate buying Map immediately after first scrap sales, before attempting the cave labyrinth. Players with Map report significantly faster keycard discovery because they recognize junction patterns instead of guessing left-or-right at every intersection.
How to Buy the Map
Collect scrap on Level 1, sell at Bender's Scrap Recycler machines, return to the lobby, and interact with Mikey the equipment vendor. Select Map for seventy-five credits. Budget roughly eleven gears or a mixed scrap haul from one successful Level 1 farming loop.
Recommended order: Radar at fifty credits first, then Map at seventy-five. Use our scrap calculator to plan the combined one-hundred-twenty-five credit investment before cave maze attempts.
When to Use the Map
Equip Map during Level 1 keycard hunts, cave maze badge attempts, and first-time Level 1.5 exploration. Swap to Radar when entering known patrol zones where enemy positions matter more than layout.
Many players carry credits for both items and switch between Map for navigation segments and Radar for combat segments within the same run.
Map vs Other Items
Radar prevents surprise deaths; Map prevents wasted minutes in maze loops. Together they form the optimal two-item loadout before molotovs or grenades. Do not buy hats before Map if you are chasing the Escaped the Maze badge.
